It has been a long time since I posted on here, but anyway... Here is my new Tau Empire Pathfinders code named "Ghost Wind" for Warhammer 40k Kill Team.

Star Wars: Legion - Luke Skywalker

My second finished miniature of 2021 is none other than Commander Luke Skywalker for Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars: Legion.

Like my Rancor, I followed Sorastro's painting guide. I am really happy with the end result, although the clothing is a little darker than I would have liked. I'm not overly keen on my OSL (Object Source Lighting) of the Lightsabre on his face, but I can live with it.

His face took some time and even though I followed the guide, I still struggled. I plan to concor face and skin tones this year!

Seeing as this is the angle I will mostly be looking at on the tabletop, I'm pleased.

He looks pretty cool.

Here's a close up of the face. The eyes came out pretty good, this distracts you from the rest of the face lol.

As they say, it's all about faces and bases. I have based him to match the rest of my Rebels (Well, my only other finished Rebel mini, AT-RT), and my Imperials.

And here is is, facing off against a Rancor.

Rancor nearly done

I have made a little progress on the Star Wars: Imperial Assault Rancor. I've completed the highlights and given it a varnish to get rid of the shine the washes left.

I have started work on the base, this will look kind of like a swamp when I have finished. I've been following Sorastaros guide for this mini. His work is awesome!

A few things from my huge bits box has come in handy. I think it will be finished by next weekend.

It's Rancor Time

I've cleaned my paint station, organised my paints and I have made a start. Todays post sees the first bit of paint on my Star Wars: Imperial Assault Rancor!

I did have a little bit of a rough start. I undercoated it about 8 months ago and when I went to pop some paint on... Disaster! The oils form the plastic had started to come through, so the paint would not take. I quickly (in the dark) 7pm ran out to the garage and gave it another zenith undercoat. And that worked.

I am following Sorastos painting guide for this. I'm easing myself back into painting and wanted to start with something fun. First bit was the mouth and tongue.

I then spent a good amount of time wet blending the base coat. This consisted of several colours with some Vallejo Glaze Medium to slow the drying time.

Now I just need to wait an age for it to dry!

Tomorrow will see some dry brushing and washes. It does not look like much now, but it should start coming together soon.

Painting Points Are Back

Yep, as the title said, painting points are coming back and so is my regular blogging, or at least that's the plan.

It's been a long time, a looong time since I did regular blogging about my hobby. I left it for a while, I spent years building up a local gaming club Pork Chop Gaming that eventually turned into a hobby store and club Incom Gaming. But my ties are now severed, the kids are growing up and I find that I may have time to start this again.

I changed the domain address to, from Realm Of Warhammer 40k to Bespoke Gamer. This lost a lot of followers and traffic, but I have stopped playing 40k and moved on to other awesome games, so a name change was in order.

Anyway, I am going to try and paint more! I have a LOT of unpainted minis... Hundreds of them, time is creeping on and I really want to be the type of hobbyist that has finished or at least nearly finished stuff. I also recognise that I have a problem, I can't help buying new stuff. So the painting points will help control this.

If you search (on here years ago) you will find I had a painting point system, where by I painted stuff and each model gave me points, those points converted into ££s to buy new stuff! This also motivated me to get things painted.

I've not worked out all the details as I want to change my system so it's achievable. I don't want to burn out or do mass batch painting either. So watch out for the system to follow soon!

I am pretty surch what miniature I will start 2021 with, it should be a nice one to ease me back in, so that will also be announced soon.

Last year I adopted a new way to encourage my painting progress. Like a lot of people out there, when it comes to adding a little paint, it seems to get sidelined and other modelling projects are started, new models are purchased and before you know it, one is fielding a half painted army with more painting jobs left to do than one would like to look at.

The idea behind the Painting Points System, is to help keep on top of the painting while adding money into a hobby fund to spend on more models. i.e. paint a model, which in turn gives points to convert into money that then gets spent on new models, it's that simple. Below you will find my Painting Points System for 2014 and a few examples, feel free to adopt your own methods or even use this one. I will be tracking my Painting Points on the site to help give me extra motivation and maybe inspire others.

Today Ream of Warhammer 40k celebrates one year of blogging. I thought I would take a look at the last year and re-link some of the best posts the site has had and some of my favourites.

If there is anything I have learnt over the past year, it is that blogging is hard work and can get quite involved. I have got a lot of plans for the next year and you should see some great things coming as well as more free stuff to download.

Painting Points System

Over the length of time I have been gaming, modelling and painting, I very often hit a wall. I get to a point where I just cannot find the motivation to do any painting. I really enjoy putting models together and quite a lot of the time find myself getting the magnets out or just doing subtle conversions to make the model a little different from the norm. Painting a small single model is fine, and if I am in the mood, painting a whole unit can be enjoyable. But facing something like 12 Kroot, that's when I hit the wall! I have had them for nearly two years and not really interested in painting them, but I have to because I want every model in my collection to be painted.

I often find most (not all) but most people I play only have around 10% or their army painted, usually the HQ or the latest model will be complete, but even then, they are generally not based. Now when I play a game against a 100% painted and based army, it just makes it all the better. Too long have I walked the unpainted mini path and I want to change. My goal is to not field a unit until it is painted a based, so grabbing inspiration from others I will adopt the Painting Points System (PPS) as outlined below.
