1 Year Later

1 Year Later

Today Ream of Warhammer 40k celebrates one year of blogging. I thought I would take a look at the last year and re-link some of the best posts the site has had and some of my favourites.

If there is anything I have learnt over the past year, it is that blogging is hard work and can get quite involved. I have got a lot of plans for the next year and you should see some great things coming as well as more free stuff to download.

Anyway enough rambling on, below are some of the best post from the last year. Please enjoy and share.

Tau Empire: Riptide v Crisis Battlesuit Team

Riptide
v
Crisis Team
So I have this little dilemma, Lots of people are saying that I should include a Riptide in my Tau army, most people saying to take them because they are awesome. But here is my problem. I would rather take a loaded unit of Crisis Battlesuit’s instead, as I think it would be more beneficial in game.

So I am putting this out there for a little help with making my decision. Below is my list of pros and cons for both unit types, after reading them, please feel free to comment with your own views and indeed if you think I have it all wrong or not. Try to avoid (I would give them these weapons instead) as this is the options I would take and the comparison in hand.

Tau Battlesuit Support Systems: Can you name them

Tau Empire XV88 Broadside Battlesuit

I have just purchased a new Broadside Battlesuit, and upon starting the build came across a little problem that I am hoping to get a little help with. As most gamers know, Tau Battlesuits come with a varying amount of support / Signature systems that can be taken as upgrades. The kit above comes with said upgrades on the sprue, (awesome) but does not tell you which ones are which (Not so awesome).

Below is a picture of the support / Signature systems that come on the sprue and I would love for someone out there to tell me what number corresponds to which item in the Tau Codex, so I can represent the correct item on the model.

Tau Hammerhead Gunship

Tau Hammerhead Gunship

The Hammerhead Gunship with Railgun. Be afraid, be very afraid! I love fielding this tank, even though every time I use it I constantly roll 1's to hit with it's single shot, I still take it in my army due to the threatening persona it has on the battlefield. Armed with one of the most powerful weapons in the 40k universe, what's not to love.

Tau Empire - Dal'yth Sept - 4th Hunter Cadre

Tau Empire - Dal'yth Sept - 4th Hunter Cadre

The 4th Hunter Cadre is part of the Dal'yth exploration force. Their main objective to scout and investigate new worlds ahead of the main battle fleet, ascertaining if said worlds are ideal for inclusion into the Tau Empire. During the Third Phase of expansion they have come across ever more resistant worlds and races and have suffered great losses, but the Greater Good must prevail and the 4th Hunter Cadre have push on.

Battle Report: Defence of Dreadhaven Valley (part I)

Imperial Guard & Raven Guard

Before the outbreak of the 13th Black Crusade, Ursakar Creed was known to fight with many different detachments across the breadth of the galaxy. It was upon the desert world of Turambar that Creed encountered a little known Mordian Iron Guard regiment, dubbed simply as 'The Remnants.'  Creed fought alongside the Remnants Colonel, Philias Horatio Atee in several battles. This is the tale of possibly their greatest...

Tau Piranha

The Tau Piranha. This is the Tau's answer to a Fast Attack vehicle, it can take up to 2 Seeker missiles and either a Burst Cannon or Fusion Blaster. It can also be loaded up on wargear but can get expensive very quickly. I really like this model even though, it's performance is not that great when I have used it.

The normal battle field roll I apply to this little skimmer is a tank hunter, fast enough to get it into position and with the Fusion Blaster will penetrate all armour. Pop goes the Landraider. OK so that has to date never happened  but it keeps them occupied long enough for the rest of my army to get into better positions.

Anyway, Enjoy...

Tau Fire Warrior Team

Tau Fire Warriors! I love these guys, ever since I read the Fire Warrior novel by Simon Spurrier.
When I started my Tau army, I did so by buying the 'Tau Empire Battleforce' box set. These Fire Warriors were quite fun to put together and a joy to paint, I am looking forward to making up another set soon, hopefully with a few conversions.

Behind the Fire Warriors is their Devilfish Troop Transport, again a very nice model. Below are some close up photos of the team, I have created two Shas'ui's ( sergeants)  so I can split the team down if needed. Please remember, I am not a pro painter, these are purely the best I can do, hope you enjoy the photos and write up.

Battle Report: Tau vs Salamanders & Eldar

Tau Dal'yth Sept
vs
Salamander Space Marines & Eldar
___________________________________

As the third phase of the Tau Empire's expansion reaches out from the Eastern fringe, a single Dal'yth Sept Hunter Cadre launches an exploration force to the planet of Ostrius IV in Segmentum Ultima: Ostrius System. Along with Water Caste negotiators the Tau endeavour to welcome the citizens of Ostrius IV into the Tau Empire. Unknown to the Tau, a company of the Salamander Space Marine and Eldar allies are not so willing to except the Tau's offer of peace and battle quickly ensues!

Tau Battlesuit Commander

Here is my Tau Commander: Shas'o Dal'yth Or'es Shi, or translated to Commander of Many Powerful Victories. He was the first Tau model I ever built and painted. I have come up with a lot of background fluff regarding my Tau army, but that can be saved for another time.

The colour scheme was taken from the Dawn of War PC game but I slightly altered it. He has also had a little extra conversion work done to him to make him stand out a little, but nothing major that cannot be managed by the average gamer.

Please keep reading and check out the photos below of my Commander and his Body Guard.
