Moving to another blog

We are moving

It may have become apparent that I am no longer updating this blog. It is not that I have packed in the hobby, but family life has stirred a little and I have also become heavily involved in running a local gaming club and the blog for that.

I will leave this site here for reference and I will also be transferring some of the posts over.

Here is a link to the blog you will find me on now. Please follow and enjoy as usual.

Inquisitor Short Film

Inquisitor Short Film

So I dug this out for anyone interested, It was made in 1996 and to be honest, at the time it was absolutely fantastic, and still is in many ways. Anyway, why not watch it... Memories for some, inspiration for others.

If this has got your gaming juices flowing, then why not pop down to my local gaming club, 'Pork Chop Gaming' and have a go at the playing a game?

For new people, you need not have an army as the club and some members have ones you can use, and we will be happy to start teaching you the rules. And for veterans, bring your armies down and have a game with some of our members.

Not into Warhammer 40,000? That's fine, just pop down and play another game system or bring one with you, we're keen and eager for more.

Don't forget we are open every Tuesday 7 - 10pm.

Pork Chop Gaming: Your Local Club

PCG Logo

Today I would like to put another shout out for my local gaming club, located in the centre of Cheltenham, Pork Chop Gaming!

We offer and play a huge variety of games, which is by no means exhaustive, a list of what is currently on the table can be found over on their Blog.

The club has plenty of different sized tables and lots of scenery that is ever expanding, suitable for different types of tabletop games. We also have some quieter space available for role-playing or other calmer games. (Some played a game of Risk last Tuesday)

Pork Chop Gaming also have some BIG GAME NIGHTS that run into the early hours, just right for those APOCALYPTIC sized games or campaigns.

Pork Chop Gaming is open every Tuesday night from 7pm-10pm

7th ed FAQ & ERRATA Are Here

Warhammer 40,000 7th edition FAQ & ERRATA

So the new FAQ's and ERRATA's are now up on the Black Library website, and quite a welcome sight. There has been very little changes involving the new Codexes but the older ones have been hit in various ways, a lot of "this no longer works" but the have also got some new things added which to be honest gives us a great insight into what the new Codexes may hold.

Whatever the outcome, it is here to stay so the gaming community just need to evolve.

All the latest updates can be found here 'FAQ & ERRATA'.

Imperial Knight

Imperial Knight

Hi all Mark here. This is my first imperial knight :) I painted it in house Cadmus as I love the back story for them, and it ties in with my yet to be revealed Nids; and goes well allied with my Eldar.
I have used it in quite a few games now and it's performed quite well, thought for 370 points I would mostly only use it in 2k games, having said that I am going to use it in my 1500 list at the next tournament.

More pics below.

Mini Game: Monster Smackdown

Monster Smackdown
Warhammer 40k - Monster Smackdown

I created this quite a while ago and have managed to play quite a few games and had some excellent fun with it. I present to you a Warhammer 40k Mini Game from Realm of Warhammer 40k. It is a very quick game you game play involving to Monstrous Creatures of your choosing on a small 2' x 2' battlefield. These behemoths then battle it out unto death. It is that simple and you can easily get a few game in to a lunch break or light evening game.

Below you will find the link to download the rules along with two deployment zone markers.

Happy St Georges Day

St Georges Day

Well it is St Georges Day here in the UK, so I thought I would celebrate. Seeing as good old George killed a Dragon on this day (a long time ago). I think I might get get my Grey Knight Grand Master to take on a Chaos Space Marine Heldrake all on his own in an epic one on one duel.

FAQ's & ERRATA are LIVE!

FAQ's & ERRATA

Barely a few hours have past since my last post on FAQ's and Games workshop have responded. The FAQ's & ERRATA's have now moved over to the Black Library and are bundled on one page.

I am very glad to see them up again and it have put water on the fire and doused any propaganda that Games Workshop messed up and forgot to add tools of the game to their new site. No... They simply moved them over to the Black Library and you can find them all by clicking on the following link below.

Games Workshop FAQ's and ERRATA's Are Here!

Well have no fear, Realm of Warhammer 40k is here! (sorry, I could not resist that). Below you will find links to all the FAQ's and ERRATA's that you could not find on the old site.

Citadel Technical Paints

Citadel Technical Paints

So Games Workshop have had their New Technical Paints out for a while, and interestingly enough, there are many people who are oblivious to the videos that accompany the paints. Yes, Games Workshop have given us some FREE 'How To' guides for their new paint range.

To save you all from having to locate these videos individually, I have bundled them all together in this single post for you. I seriously suggest you check them out as they are invaluable for extra detail painting information. The videos can be found below, I hope you enjoy them.

Hobby Fund

Below you will find a list of all the models I have painted and the Painting Points I have accumulated in doing so over the year and what I have spent the Hobby Fund on. This will also give you an insight into what army models I am adding to my collection.

This list will update throughout the year as more models are painted and the Hobby Fund is emptied. so keep checking back to take a look at where I'm at and what you may face on the table top.

The Forge: Planetary Campaign

Jollen II

I thought I would give you a little teaser of some of the nearly finished planets for the coming Planetary Campaign for Warhammer 40k.

Above is Jollen II, a fabulous paint job done by my brother Mark. Below are two smaller planets, a small satellite Luna Primus and a small desert planet, Turambar I. These will feature in the campaign I have been planning for some time and will have digital overlays completed so you guys and girls at my local club can keep track of where everyone is and plan there next moves.

Worcester War II

Worcester War II

So the weekend is nearly upon us and will take me to my first event of the year. I am taking a fun to play army this time as I want to go for the fun because I am not good enough to actually win (sob), my list will also be a lot of fun for the other players to fight against too and slightly different from the current style of armies going around at the moment.

That said, I am not going to just roll over and play dead, I will try to do my best and put up a good fight. This is also the reason for being a little quiet of late as I have been busy painting and sorting things out in preparation.

After the weekend I will be posting what I have been up to, and showing you some recently painted models and some new item in the works. Also an analysis of the days games.

Head on over to 'Code 40k' for a look at some of the scenery that will be used.

Below is a video from 'The Fat Hobbit' on his thoughts for Worcester War II, well worth a watch and gives some great views on what's to come at Worcester War II.

The Fat Hobbit's take on Worcester War II this coming weekend

The Forge: Dreadknight Shield

May your weapon be guarded against malfunction,
as your soul is guarded from impurity.
The Machine God watches over you.
Unleash the weapons of war.
Unleash the Death dealer.

Last year I was very proud to finish my Nemesis Dreadknight: Brother Diego. I wanted to create a shield for him to use as well, so here is a little snippet into what I have planed.

The Forge: Campaign Planets

May your weapon be guarded against malfunction,
as your soul is guarded from impurity.
The Machine God watches over you.
Unleash the weapons of war.
Unleash the Death dealer.

The Forge... This is where you will find glimpses into my latest projects. I figured I would not only post up completed work, but also my work in progress (WIP) and get some feedback and / or help on my hobby.

To start on the regular posting  of my WIP, here is a quick look at some work I have in stall for a little campaign I want to run. Keep reading to find out what's on the work bench!

Painting Points System: 2014

Painting Points System: 2014

Last year I adopted a new way to encourage my painting progress. Like a lot of people out there, when it comes to adding a little paint, it seems to get sidelined and other modelling projects are started, new models are purchased and before you know it, one is fielding a half painted army with more painting jobs left to do than one would like to look at.

The idea behind the Painting Points System, is to help keep on top of the painting while adding money into a hobby fund to spend on more models. i.e. paint a model, which in turn gives points to convert into money that then gets spent on new models, it's that simple. Below you will find my Painting Points System for 2014 and a few examples, feel free to adopt your own methods or even use this one. I will be tracking my Painting Points on the site to help give me extra motivation and maybe inspire others.

2014 Wish List

2014 Wish List

A new year has arrived and so has my new wish list. Last year saw quite a few items purchased from the 2013 list found 'Here' and I intend on following suit for 2014.

The wish list helps me focus on what I really want, it also gives people, (you) the chance to chime in and offer advice on whether my intended purchases are a good or bad choice. That doesn't necessarily mean I will not get the item if it is noted a bad idea, but will help me make informed choices.

So take a look at the wish list and let me know your thoughts!
