So here are my favourite solo play games. I have listed them in order of out of the box play-ability. Some games require an APP or to download and print off content, rule and cards etc...
#1 - Core Space:
Core Space is amazing, it tick all the solo play requirements and you can get started straight out of the box. If you didn't know better, you would think it was designed for lockdown.
You can purchase this game in the UK from: www.incomgaming.co.ukHere’s Negan is a co-operative board game for 1 to 5 players, based on The Walking Dead comic-book series. Each player takes the role of a Survivor, recruited by the ruthless Negan. Under Negan’s instructions, the Survivors must battle to clear out a large factory complex to create a safe haven in the brutal wilderness. By scavenging supplies, securing key objectives and fighting The Walking Dead, the players hope to win Negan’s favour and ultimately become his top lieutenants.
This is kind of like a dungeon crawler and is a high tension brutal game, this does not have anywhere as near as the options of TWD above but is a great fun tabletop game. Great solo play too, which is the whole point.

Imperial Assault casts you and your friends into the climactic events following the Death Star’s destruction above Yavin 4, and offers two full game experiences within the Star Wars saga. In the campaign game, you and up to four other friends play a series of thrilling missions woven together in a narrative campaign, and in the skirmish game, you and your opponent muster your own strike teams and battle head-to-head over conflicting objectives. Whether you play as a hero of the Rebellion and fight alongside iconic characters like Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, or command the seemingly limitless armies of the Galactic Empire, you’ll enter the Star Wars universe in Imperial Assault.
As an added bonus, Imperial Assault includes the Darth Vader Villain Pack and the Luke Skywalker Ally Pack. These figure packs mark the first expansions for Imperial Assault, adding sculpted plastic figures with new campaign and skirmish missions.
For this game to be played solo, you need to do one of two thing.
1: Download the Legends of the Alliance APP from either:
a: Steam
b: Google Play
The app then plays the Imperial player. I have found that the app is limited, and you gan end up just playing the same missions.
2: Download, read the rules and Print of the cards for RAIV. HERE
This I have found works so much better and allows you to add what you want when you want. It dose involve a lot of ground work, printing the cards and cutting them out but it will be worth it!
#5 - Frostgrave
Amidst the frozen ruins of an ancient city, wizards battle in the hopes of discovering the treasures of a fallen empire. In this fantasy skirmish wargame, each player takes on the role of a wizard from one of ten schools of magic, and builds his band of followers. The wizard's apprentice will usually accompany his master, and more than a dozen other henchman types are available for hire, from lowly thugs to heavily armoured knights and stealthy thieves. Wizards can expand their magical knowledge by unlocking ancient secrets and may learn up to 80 different spells. While individual games of Frostgrave are quick and can easily be played in an hour or two, it is by connecting them into an ongoing campaign that players will find the most enjoyment. The scenarios given in the book are merely the beginning of the limitless adventures that can be found amidst the ruins of the Frozen City.
Ok, so this is not a complete game with miniature as you use your own collection and is designed for PVP or multi player play, but if you just add loads of encounters every turn, it quickly become a great solo play game. You can also add in the big boss monsters to take down too.
The Ghost Archipelago has returned. A vast island chain, covered in the ruins of ancient civilizations, the Archipelago appears every few centuries, far out in the southern ocean. At such times, pirates, adventurers, wizards, and legendary heroes all descend upon the islands in the hopes of finding lost treasures and powerful artefacts. A few, drawn by the blood of their ancestors, search for the fabled Crystal Pool, whose waters grant abilities far beyond those of normal men. It is only the bravest, however, who venture into the islands, for they are filled with numerous deadly threats. Cannibal tribes, sorcerous snake-men, and poisonous water-beasts all inhabit the island ruins, guarding their treasure hordes and setting traps for the unwary.
In this new wargame, set in the world of Frostgrave, players take on the role of Heritors, mighty warriors whose ancestors drank from the Crystal Pool. These Heritors lead their small, handpicked teams of spellcasters, rogues, and treasure hunters into the ever-shifting labyrinth of the Ghost Archipelago. Using the same rules system as Frostgrave, this standalone wargame focuses on heroes who draw on the power in their blood to perform nigh-impossible feats of strength and agility. This game also includes 30 spells drawn from five schools of magic, a host of soldier types, challenging scenarios, treasure tables, and a full bestiary of the most common creatures that inhabit the Lost Isles.

All you need to play X-Wing solo, are the free rules from Fantasy Flight Games and you can download them here: Solo Rules Open Alpha V2 It does take a little time to get used to, but this allows you to get your X-Wing fix and try out some fun thematic games.#7 - Star Wars: Legion
Warfare is an inescapable part of the Star Wars universe, from the blow dealt to the Rebel Alliance in the Battle of Hoth to a few Rebel strike teams taking on a legion of stormtroopers stationed on Endor. Seize your chance to get your boots on the ground and lead your troops to victory with Star Wars™: Legion, a miniatures game of thrilling infantry battles in the Star Wars universe!
Star Wars: Legion invites you to join the unsung battles of the Galactic Civil War as the commander of a unique army filled with troopers, powerful ground or repulsor vehicles, and iconic characters like Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker. While innovative mechanics simulate the fog of war and the chaos of battle, the unpainted, easily assembled miniatures give you a canvas to create the Star Wars army you’ve always wanted to lead into battle—whether you fight for the monolithic, oppressive Galactic Empire or the ragtag Rebel Alliance.
or the Clone WarsThis Core Set invites you to enter a completely new era of infantry battles in the Star Wars galaxy, pitting the overwhelming Separatist droid forces against the Republic’s crack armies of clone troopers and Jedi Knights. As you do, you’ll assemble a force of the Clone Wars' most iconic heroes, villains, troopers, and vehicles, including Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Grievous. In addition to introducing the Galactic Republic and Separatist Alliance to the game, this Core Set contains all the cards, tools and tokens you need to begin staging your own Star Wars battles right away, making this the perfect starting point to begin building your Star Wars: Legion collection!
Again, this is a PvP game but can be played solo with some imagination and the right materials. The rules and cards (not many either) can be found HERE. I will stress, then are functional AI rules and will require some imagination and wiggle room. But... This will get you your Legion fix and allow you to try out new tactics too.

Dungeon Saga: The Dwarf King’s Quest is the Classic Dungeon Crawler of Swords and Sorcery. Embark on a fantasy adventure for up to 5 players in the Dungeon Saga board game! With highly detailed game-pieces and learn-as-you-play rules, this set contains everything you need to transform your table-top into a magical world of heroes and monsters.
This is a true fantasy dungeon crawler at its best. The other great thing about this game, is that not only is it easy to learn, but if you strip back all the extra rules and just use the basics, you can easily get the kids involved! You can purchase this game in the UK from: www.incomgaming.co.uk
So they are my go to solo play games. There are obviously more out there so feel free to comment a link other game in the comments section.
Before I go, I want to give some honorably mentions to other games that can be played solo, though I have not yet tried them:
Aliens vs Predator: The Hunt Begins - This has a solo game mode in the rules book, but I have never played it. The game is also Out Of Production, so only though with a copy can play it.
Wings Of Glory WWII - I love this game and not enough people in my area play it, but there is an APP on google play called wog2_ai that fly's the enemy planes for you. I have not tried it yet though.
Star Saga - A sci-fi version of Dungeon Saga. I have looked at this game man times, but not purchased or played it. But it have rules similar for the fantasy game mentioned above.
Bolt Action - Yes, that's right... Bolt Action can be played solo. In the back of Campaign Market Garden, pg 108 there are rules for playing the game solo. All you need is a deck of cards. Again, I have not tried this, but the possibility is there.
And that's it folk, I hope you enjoyed the read and you are able to play some solo game during lockdown. Incom Gaming have most of these in stock, so head on over and grab yours to start gaming asap!.
